BREEAM Retail has been launched in August 2003 for retail developments, and its updated 2005 version is effective since  January 2005. The BREEAM Retail methodology aims to assess the relative environmental impacts of retail projects.

EcoConsulting is one of the registered assessors for BREEAM Retail.

Assessment & Certification Modules
The BREEAM Retail assessment methodology can be applied to new-build as well as existing retail buildings. An assessment can be commissioned by the design teams, managing agents,  landlords, or even individual tenants of a retail development.

All types of retail space can be evaluated at any of the following phases:

• New build or refurbishment phase: BREEAM Design & Procurement

• Retail store fit-out phase: BREEAM Tenant Fit-out

• Existing and occupied phase: BREEAM Operation & Management

How EcoConsulting can Help
In order to achieve the highest possible rating at the lowest capital cost, BRE recommends high involvement of a registered assessor from the earliest design stage.

Air conditioning systems can harbour harmful chemicals and bugs such as Legionella, moulds, and particulates that are released back into the ducts from the filter, especially when the weather fluctuates. In air-conditioned buildings, many more people suffer from the Sick Building Syndrome.
