Objective

Advise on measures to comply with the Building Regulations on energy performance and obtain a “Very Good” EcoHomes rating..

Brief

EcoConsulting was appointed to undertake EcoHomes and SAP energy assessments for a large 82 flat development (shared ownership & affordable) and to consult on the most efficient way of obtaining a “Very Good” EcoHomes rating.

We advised on specific means to obtain the desired rating, most importantly reducing the glazing, to reduce heat loss, while maintaining very high levels of daylighting and in keeping with the architects' original design.

As a consequence of our study, the glazed curtain walling was reduced by 25% and the developer changed from high carbon electric heating to very energy efficient. Following our recommendations, the SAP results were dramatically improved and a total of 12 EcoHomes Energy 1 and 2 credits were obtained.

We maintained excellent client communication during the entirety of the 3-year project, supporting the entire design team and contractor from the initial concept stages until completion.
